Report: 3D Realms and Slipgate Ironworks Impacted by Layoffs

According to recent social media updates from Scott Miller, founder of Apogee Entertainment and 3D Realms, both 3D Realms and Slipgate Ironworks have undergone significant staff reductions as part of Embracer's ongoing restructuring efforts. Miller expressed his disappointment, stating that multiple sources have informed him of the layoffs, which he found particularly disheartening given his past collaboration with the new 3D Realms from 2014 until their acquisition by Embracer approximately 2.5 years ago. Miller further noted that at least half of the combined workforce of Slipgate Ironworks and 3D Realms was affected. In response to the news, an Embracer spokesperson declined to comment on the rumors. This development follows the recent confirmation of the closure of TimeSplitters studio Free Radical Design as part of Embracer's restructuring program.
