Godus and Godus Wars Removed from Steam Store
The developer 22cans has delisted Godus and Godus Wars from Steam. In a statement posted on the Steam pages of both games, the company cited a technical change from a business partner as the reason for the removal. "Unfortunately, an upcoming technical change to Amazon Web Services will impact our ability to provide necessary game files to new users, so we are withdrawing these titles from the Steam store," the company explained. However, players who already own the games will still be able to play them. Godus was initially released on Steam Early Access in September 2013, followed by the more combat-focused spin-off Godus Wars in February 2016, also on Steam Early Access. Neither game ever progressed beyond the Early Access phase on Steam. The games have received largely negative reviews, with Godus holding a Mostly Negative rating and only 25% of reviewers giving it a positive review, while Godus Wars has an Overwhelmingly Negative rating with just 14% of reviewers giving it a positive assessment. Despite this, Godus remains available on mobile devices, where it is reportedly performing well, according to 22cans founder Peter Molyneux.
