ZeniMax Reaches Preliminary Accord with Union on AI Integration

In an update on ongoing contract negotiations between ZeniMax Workers United, the Communication Workers of America, and Microsoft subsidiary ZeniMax, the parties announced a tentative agreement governing the company's use of artificial intelligence. The agreement stipulates that ZeniMax will use AI to enhance human capabilities, ensuring that these tools increase worker productivity, growth, and satisfaction without causing harm. Key terms include advance notice and negotiation with the union when AI affects union members' work, as well as adherence to six core principles: fairness, reliability, safety, privacy, inclusivity, transparency, and accountability. A ZeniMax Workers United-CWA member and senior QA tester, Dylan Burton, expressed confidence that the agreement will protect workers as AI is integrated into their workflow, emphasizing the importance of worker input and accountability in AI adoption.
