Fntastic Shuts Down Shortly After The Day Before's Early Access Release

Fntastic has ceased operations mere days after its open-world survival MMO, The Day Before, became available on Steam's Early Access. At the time of writing, the game holds a predominantly negative review score on the platform. In a statement released on social media, the studio acknowledged that The Day Before failed to meet financial expectations, leaving the company without sufficient funds to continue operations. The statement read, "All revenue generated is currently being allocated towards settling debts with our partners." The studio further expressed, "Despite our best efforts, we underestimated our capabilities. Game development is a highly demanding pursuit." Established in 2015, Fntastic had previously co-developed titles like The Wild Eight and developed Radiant One and Propnight. This news follows a month after Fntastic postponed The Day Before's release, which was initially set for November 10. Earlier in January, the game faced a delay due to a trademark dispute, resulting in its temporary removal from Steam. It was also revealed last year that The Day Before was partially developed by unpaid staff members.
