Game Awards Sees Surge in New Title Reveals This Year

The 2023 Game Awards experienced a significant increase in game announcements compared to the previous year, with a total of 61 new titles unveiled, marking a year-over-year rise of over 50% according to Fancensus data. A breakdown by genre reveals that action/adventure games accounted for 51% of the announcements, followed by RPGs at 16%. Notably, AAA titles made up only 18% of the debuted games, while AA efforts comprised 31%, and mid-tier developed games accounted for 30% of the new announcements. In terms of press coverage within six hours of their reveals, Capcom's Monster Hunter Wilds dominated media headlines at 74%, with Ninja Theory's Senua's Saga: Hellblade II and Jurassic Park: Survival also receiving significant attention.
