Epic and Lego Unveil First Step Towards Kid-Friendly Metaverse with Lego Fortnite

Epic Games has taken a significant step towards establishing Fortnite as a metaverse with the launch of Lego Fortnite, a collaborative effort with Lego. This debut product marks the beginning of a long-term partnership and is the first of three major releases within Fortnite over the coming days. Introduced as a new mode in Fortnite, Lego Fortnite is a cooperative game where players can explore Lego-built worlds, construct villages, and battle monsters and pirates together. The Epic-Lego partnership, announced in April, aims to create a child-friendly metaverse. More Lego-themed games are expected to be unveiled early next year, along with the integration of Lego elements into Fortnite's Creative Mode and Unreal Engine. Additionally, Epic will launch Rocket Racing, developed by Psyonix, and Fortnite Festival, a multiplayer music game from Harmonix. These developments are part of Epic's broader metaverse ambitions, which include the introduction of Unreal Engine for Fortnite and a focus on safety, particularly for younger users.
