Baldur's Gate 3 Makes Surprise Debut on Xbox Amid Parity Concerns

The highly-acclaimed Baldur's Gate 3 has officially launched on Xbox, courtesy of Larian Studios, during The Game Awards ceremony. Initially exclusive to PlayStation 5 and PC, the game's Xbox release was delayed due to technical hurdles, specifically related to split-screen co-op functionality on both Xbox Series X and Series S consoles. Microsoft generally mandates parity across both platforms as a prerequisite for game release. However, an agreement was reached in August, allowing the game to launch without split-screen co-op on Series S, although cooperative play is still possible. Furthermore, players can transfer their saves from other platforms using their Larian accounts. The game's release was announced at The Game Awards, where it received the most awards of any title.
