New World Interactive Faces Layoffs Amid Restructuring Efforts

New World Interactive, a subsidiary of Saber Interactive, has undergone layoffs as part of Embracer's ongoing restructuring efforts. Initially, it was believed that the studio had been completely shut down, but Saber Interactive has clarified that the move is a reorganization. The company stated, 'This reorganization has led to layoffs at the studio. We are working to fill existing open roles within Saber with those affected and will provide severance packages to impacted employees.' Development of Insurgency: Sandstorm and other unannounced projects will continue. The exact number of layoffs is unknown, but a LinkedIn post suggested that most of the team working on a cancelled project were affected. This news follows Embracer's recent closure of TimeSplitters developer Free Radical Design and downsizing of Fishlabs by 50 roles. Embracer's recent financial reports revealed that over 900 employees were let go in a three-month period, which the interim CEO described as a necessary but difficult process.
