Phil Spencer Reveals Xbox's Collaboration with Mystery Partners on Mobile Storefront

According to Phil Spencer, Xbox is collaborating with unidentified partners to establish a mobile store that will compete with the App Store and Google Play. In an interview with Bloomberg, Spencer emphasized the importance of expanding into the mobile gaming market with a dedicated store. He stated, "This is a key aspect of our strategy, and we're actively working on it, not just independently, but also in discussions with other partners who want to see more options for monetizing their content on mobile devices." Spencer further explained, "Currently, consumers lack choice when it comes to their mobile phones. To ensure Xbox remains relevant for the next decade or more, we need to have a strong presence across multiple screens." When asked about the store's launch timeline, Spencer suggested it would be sooner rather than later, stating it's not "multiple years away." The plans for a next-generation gaming store, dubbed the "Xbox Mobile Platform," were first disclosed in a regulatory filing shared by the Competition and Markets Authority in October last year.
