Sonic Superstars Falls Short of Sales Projections, Says Sega

According to Sega, Sonic Superstars has failed to meet the company's sales expectations following its launch. During a recent financial briefing, Sega's president and CEO, Haruki Satomi, acknowledged that the game got off to a slower start than anticipated. Noting that the Sonic franchise typically generates most of its sales during the holiday season, Satomi stated that the majority of the game's marketing budget will be allocated during this period. When questioned about the disappointing sales, Satomi pointed to the competitive landscape at the time of the game's release, including the launch of Super Mario Bros Wonder just three days later. Despite this, Satomi expressed confidence in the game's potential, citing its strong Metacritic and user scores, which surpass those of Sonic Frontiers. The company plans to intensify promotional efforts, particularly in overseas markets, ahead of the holiday season.
