Frontier Adjusts Revenue Projections, Shifts Focus to Simulation Games
Frontier Developments, a UK-based studio, has revised its revenue projections for the current fiscal year due to the underwhelming performance of its latest Warhammer title. In an update to investors, the company announced a strategic shift towards creative management simulations, which have historically generated more stable and lucrative returns. With three simulation titles slated for release over the next three fiscal years, Frontier aims to capitalize on the success of its established franchises, including Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, and Jurassic World Evolution. Despite positive reviews, Warhammer: Age of Sigmar - Realms of Ruin has struggled to meet sales expectations, prompting the company to lower its revenue target from £108 million to a range of £80-90 million for the 2024 fiscal year. This adjustment marks the second time Frontier has revised its financial outlook this year, following the underperformance of F1 Manager and the discontinuation of its third-party publishing label, Foundry. The company remains optimistic about its long-term prospects, anticipating a break-even point in fiscal year 2025 and citing the enduring success of its simulation games, which have collectively surpassed $500 million in revenue.
