East Asia's PC and Mobile Gaming Market to Reach $30 Billion by 2023
Niko Partners has released a report predicting that the combined PC and mobile game markets in East Asia will reach $29.8 billion in 2023, encompassing Japan, South Korea, and Chinese Taipei, with Japan anticipated to account for over 60% of the region's consumer spending. The Korean PC games market is also expected to contribute significantly, making up over 55% of East Asia's total gaming revenue. Notably, Chinese Taipei boasts a larger gaming population than both Japan and Korea. By 2027, the region's gaming market is projected to expand to $30.8 billion, with the gaming population expected to grow to 110.6 million. Niko Partners notes that East Asia is home to the world's third and fourth largest video game markets, with gaming deeply ingrained in the region's culture and industry. Despite challenges posed by an aging population and slow economic growth, the region remains a significant force in the gaming industry.
