Bandai Namco Expands Portfolio with Investments in Flickplay and Code Charm
Bandai Namco has made strategic investments in two innovative US-based companies, Flickplay and Code Charm. Flickplay, a California-based firm, offers a unique platform where users can buy digital collectibles for use in mini-games and augmented reality experiences. This investment builds upon Bandai Namco's earlier support for Flickplay during its seed funding round. Code Charm, a Texas-based software developer, is known for its cloud-based art collaboration tool, Magma Studio. These investments are part of Bandai Namco's 021 Fund, established in 2022 to focus on startup investments within the gaming sector. According to Yoyo Yang, Bandai Namco's corporate planning chief, the US market is a hub for cutting-edge technology and entertainment, making it an attractive destination for investments. This move follows the company's recent investment in GGWP, an anti-toxicity platform leveraging AI for content moderation.
