Ubisoft Halts Advertisements on X

According to Axios, Ubisoft has suspended its advertising efforts on X. The move comes after the company had been running a promotional campaign for Assassin's Creed Nexus VR, which was released recently. Ubisoft confirmed to the outlet that it has put a pause on advertising on the platform. GamesIndustry.biz has sought additional information from Ubisoft. A growing list of companies, including Apple, IBM, Disney, Comcast/NBCU, Lions Gate Entertainment, Paramount, and Warner Bros Discovery, have also ceased advertising on the site. This development follows a discovery by US media watchdog group Media Matters, which found that ads from these companies were being displayed alongside white nationalist and antisemitic content. X CEO Linda Yaccarino disputed these findings, stating that no genuine users on X were exposed to ads from IBM, Comcast, or Oracle alongside the controversial content, and only a couple of users, including at least one from Media Matters, saw Apple ads in such a context. In response, the social media platform has filed a lawsuit against Media Matters, alleging that the group intentionally and maliciously fabricated images showing advertisers' posts on X Corp's social media platform.
