NetEase Introduces Worlds Untold, a New AAA Game Development Studio

NetEase has expanded its portfolio with the launch of Worlds Untold, a new game development studio led by industry veteran Mac Walters, previously of BioWare. Despite being headquartered in Vancouver, the studio operates fully remotely and is dedicated to crafting AAA action-adventure games that prioritize storytelling and world-building. As CEO, Walters brings nearly two decades of experience from BioWare, where he held key roles in the development of the Mass Effect series, Anthem, and Dragon Age. Walters stated, "Our goal is to create captivating and meaningful stories that are best experienced through interactive play. We're starting by designing immersive worlds and then placing the player at the forefront of unforgettable adventures." The studio's vision aligns with that of NetEase Games, which supports the use of cutting-edge technology to produce high-quality games. Worlds Untold has already assembled a team of seasoned professionals, including Sotaro Tojima, Elizabeth Lehtonen, Ramil Sunga, and Ben Goldstein. This launch is part of NetEase's ongoing expansion, which has included the acquisition of SkyBox Labs and the establishment of several other studios throughout the year.
