Starbreeze Sees 42.9% Revenue Surge to $46.6 Million in Q3

Starbreeze has unveiled its Q3 financial report, ending September 30, 2023, showcasing a substantial increase in revenue driven by the launch of Payday 3. The game accounted for 89% of Starbreeze's total net sales for the quarter. Key financial highlights include a 42.9% rise in net sales to $46.6 million and a net profit of $28.3 million, marking a significant turnaround from the $726,802 loss in Q3 2022. Payday 3 generated $41.6 million in sales, successfully recouping Starbreeze's investment. Despite initial launch issues, including server access problems for the online-only game, Starbreeze CEO Tobias Sjögren expressed confidence in the game's long-term sales potential. The performance was somewhat below expectations for Embracer, the parent company of Payday 3 publisher Plaion, with CEO Lars Wingefors noting the game's weaker-than-expected release. Overall, Starbreeze reported $46.6 million in revenue, a substantial increase from the $3.6 million in the same period last year.
