Modern Warfare 3 Takes the Top Spot in UK Boxed Charts
The latest installment of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3, has secured the number one position in the UK boxed charts, relegating Super Mario Bros Wonder to third place. According to GfK's report, the game's physical sales on PS5 surpassed those on Xbox Series X|S. However, overall boxed sales have declined by 25% compared to its predecessor, Modern Warfare 2. Notably, the game received the lowest critic score in the franchise's history, with allegations that it was developed in half the usual time, resulting in staff crunch. Meanwhile, EA Sports FC 24 holds steady at number two, followed by Spider-Man 2 at number four and the newly released Football Manager 2024 at number five. Another new entry, Disney's Dreamlight Valley, debuted at number 32, marking a shift from its initial free-to-play plan to a premium product after a year in early access. Elsewhere, Robocop Rogue City experienced a significant drop from fourth to 13th place, with a 64% decline in sales. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom maintained its position at 18 despite an 18% decrease. Several titles have re-entered the charts due to ongoing promotions, including PJ Masks: Heroes of the Night, which saw a substantial increase in sales on PS5 and Xbox One. Batman Arkham Collection saw a 105% rise in sales, led by the PS4 version, while Diablo 4, Super Mario Party, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix, and Just Dance 2021 also experienced a surge in sales.
