Take-Two's Quarterly Losses Widen to $543.6 Million

Take-Two has unveiled its second-quarter financial results, revealing a net loss of $543.6 million. This figure represents a 111.5% increase compared to the $257 million loss recorded during the same period last year. Although net revenue and net bookings experienced a slight decline, the company noted that these figures align with its previous guidance. Take-Two has reaffirmed its full-year revenue forecast, anticipating $5.37 billion to $5.47 billion, but has adjusted its net loss prediction to $910 million to $957 million for the fiscal year. Key highlights include: net revenue of $1.3 billion, down 7% year-over-year; a net loss of $543.6 million, representing a 111.5% change from the previous year; and total net bookings of $1.44 billion, a 4% decrease. The company's gross profit stood at $415.4 million, while operating expenses of $959.1 million led to the net loss. Notable contributors to net bookings were NBA 2K24 and 2K23, GTA Online, GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, and various Zynga titles. In an interview, CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed optimism about the company's performance, citing the success of GTA 5, GTA Online, and Red Dead Redemption 2, as well as promising results from other titles such as NBA 2K and Zynga's new releases. Zelnick attributed the company's strong performance to its diverse portfolio and the successful integration of Zynga, which has driven mobile revenue to nearly half of total net bookings. The company remains confident about its future prospects, including the anticipated release of the next Grand Theft Auto game.
