Ubisoft Undergoes Restructuring, Affects VFX and IT Departments
Ubisoft has implemented a restructuring plan that has resulted in job losses within its VFX and IT departments. According to the company, the decision to reorganize its workforce was made to improve operational efficiency and streamline its global IT staff and Hybride teams, resulting in 124 redundancies. In a statement, Ubisoft explained, "In recent months, all teams have been working to optimize our operations and improve our overall efficiency to ensure long-term success." "…We understand the gravity of these decisions and are committed to providing extensive support to our departing colleagues. We appreciate their dedication and contributions to the company and want to express our sincere gratitude. It's worth noting that this restructuring does not impact our production teams." This round of layoffs follows earlier redundancies announced by Ubisoft in May, which saw 60 customer service staff let go. In March, the company announced a strategic overhaul of its European operations, resulting in the closure of several locations, including Ubisoft Benelux.
