Kirsty Rigden Assumes Sole Leadership of FuturLab

Following the retirement of James Marsden, founder of FuturLab, Kirsty Rigden is set to take the reins as the studio's sole CEO. Rigden, who initially joined FuturLab as development director in 2010 and later became co-CEO in August 2022, officially stepped into her new role in September. Marsden, who established FuturLab in 2003, has been instrumental in the development of notable games including PowerWash Simulator, Peaky Blinders: Mastermind, and Velocity. As he moves on to pursue his passion for music, Marsden will remain a part of FuturLab's board as a founding member. Reflecting on his 20-year journey with the studio, Marsden expressed his gratitude for the experience, citing the growth of FuturLab from humble beginnings to a leading UK independent game studio with over 100 professional game developers and multiple projects underway. Marsden acknowledged that his true passion lies in music, which he had to put on hold during his time at FuturLab. He emphasized that as the studio has evolved into a 'serious business,' it requires a leader whose passion for games is unwavering, making Rigden the ideal candidate to take the helm.
