Sonic The Hedgehog Franchise Reaches 1.6 Billion Units Sold
According to Sega's latest annual report, the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise has achieved a remarkable milestone of 1.6 billion units sold and downloaded worldwide as of March 2023, marking a 7% increase from the previous year. This growth can be attributed in part to the success of Sonic Frontiers, released in November 2022, as well as the popularity of the 2020 Sonic film and its 2022 sequel. The Total War series has also seen substantial growth, with 43.4 million units sold and downloaded, representing a 7% year-over-year increase. Meanwhile, the Football Manager series has experienced a significant 21% growth, with 30.2 million units sold and downloaded, driven in part by the release of Football Manager 2023. Other notable franchises, including Like a Dragon and Persona, have also seen increases in sales and downloads, with 21.3 million and 17.7 million units respectively, highlighting the continued success of Sega's diverse portfolio of games.
