The film adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy's has garnered an impressive $80 million in domestic box office sales. According to Deadline, the horror movie, a collaboration between Universal and Blumhouse, has accumulated a total of $130.6 million worldwide. Released over the recent weekend, the Emma Tammi-directed film stands as the second-highest grossing video game adaptation this year, closely following Super Mario Bros. Notably, it achieves the largest weekend box office premiere for a horror film directed by a female filmmaker. Originally developed by Scott Cawthon, who also contributed as a writer to the movie, the Five Nights at Freddy's game was launched in 2014. Players take on the role of a nighttime employee at a family-friendly pizza restaurant, tasked with surviving the menacing animatronic characters. Since its inception, the horror series has expanded to include multiple sequels and spin-offs.
