Unveiling the Winners of the 2023 US GamesIndustry.biz Best Places To Work Awards

The results of the 2023 US GamesIndustry.biz Best Places To Work Awards are in. The awards aim to promote a better working environment in the games industry, with winners determined by a comprehensive employee survey. Over 50 US companies participated, and 14 emerged as winners. Electronic Arts was the biggest winner, with three of its studios - Cliffhanger Games, Ripple Effect, and Maxis - receiving awards. All winning companies are now eligible to display the prestigious Best Places To Work Awards badge. The winners are categorized into three groups: small companies (10-50 staff), including Brass Lion Entertainment, Cliffhanger Games, Gamebreaking Studios, Gamesight, Modulate, Sandbox Strategies, and Uplift Games; mid-sized companies (50-200 employees), comprising Bad Robot Games, Ripple Effect, Schell Games, Stoic Studio, and Unbroken Studios; and large companies (200+ employees), consisting of Iron Galaxy and Maxis. The judging process involved an employer form, which accounted for 20% of the final score, and an employee survey that covered various aspects such as work environment, management, diversity, and work-life balance, making up 80% of the final score. Additional checks were also conducted to identify potential issues affecting a small number of employees. Participants will receive a report highlighting their scores to help them identify areas for improvement. The awards are free to participate in, and the Canada GamesIndustry.biz Best Places To Work Awards will be announced next month.
