Team17 Announces Significant Restructuring, Affecting Nearly a Third of Staff
According to a report by Eurogamer, Team17's ongoing restructuring efforts may lead to the loss of approximately one-third of its workforce. The formal consultation process for these redundancies is expected to conclude next month, putting up to 91 jobs at risk. Earlier reports suggested that the publisher planned to reduce its QA staff by more than half, with around 50 roles in jeopardy. Team17 had previously confirmed a round of layoffs as part of a broader reorganization of its business model. The latest cuts are expected to impact various departments, including marketing, usability, customer service, IT, and HR. The news of these layoffs was reportedly broken to some of Team17's development partners through LinkedIn posts from affected staff members. The company is also experiencing significant changes in its leadership, with CEO Debbie Bestwick set to step down by the end of the year and be replaced by Steve Bell. Additionally, Team17 Digital CEO Michael Pattison has recently left the company. Despite these significant cuts, Team17's financial performance has been relatively strong, with sales increasing by 31% and gross profit rising by 18% year-over-year in the first half of the year.
