MTG Acquires Majority Stake in Snowprint Studios to Fuel Growth

Modern Times Group has taken a majority stake in Snowprint Studios, with the acquisition aiming to equip the studio with the necessary resources to broaden its player base and explore new revenue streams. According to MTG's President and CEO, Maria Redin, the partnership will leverage MTG's expertise to help Snowprint Studios "expand its audience and diversify its income channels." Redin praised Snowprint Studios for its expertise in mobile game development, launch, and growth, as well as its successful collaborations with prominent entertainment IP owners such as Games Workshop and the Warhammer 40,000 franchise. Alexander Ekvall, CEO and co-founder of Snowprint Studios, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that MTG offers the ideal environment for the studio to continue creating exceptional games while providing access to a comprehensive toolkit to accelerate portfolio growth. Founded in 2015 by former King developers Alexander Ekvall and Patrik Lindegrén, Snowprint Studios has focused on developing mobile free-to-play midcore games, releasing titles such as Legend of Solgard, Rivengard, and Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus. The studio received a $15 million investment in 2021 from Hiro Capital, Happy Volcano, and Double Loop to support its expansion plans.
