Monthly In-Game Spending by Children Averages €39
According to a recent report by Video Games Europe, formerly known as ISFE, the average monthly expenditure on in-game content by minors is approximately €39. This data is based on a survey conducted by Ipsos, which gathered responses from 2,808 caretakers across the UK, Germany, Italy, France, and Spain. In comparison to 2020, when the average monthly spend was €33, this represents a notable increase. The same report highlights that, among parents whose children do make in-game purchases, the least popular items are random rewards, such as those found in loot boxes, whereas content that directly impacts gameplay is the most sought after. Furthermore, the survey found that 76% of guardians reported that their children do not spend money on the games they play, and 89% of respondents stated that they actively oversee the spending habits of minors.
