Activision Blizzard Plans to Expand Game Pass Offerings in 2024

Following its anticipated acquisition by Microsoft, Activision Blizzard aims to integrate more of its games into Xbox Game Pass by 2024. As the completion of the deal and the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 draw near, the company has addressed inquiries about the potential addition of Modern Warfare 3 to Microsoft's subscription service. In a statement, Activision Blizzard noted that while Modern Warfare 3 and Diablo 4 will not be added to Game Pass this year, it expects to collaborate with Xbox to make its titles more accessible worldwide after the deal is finalized. The company anticipates that the integration of its games into Game Pass will commence sometime next year. Microsoft's $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard is nearing completion, pending final approval from the UK's Competition and Markets Authority. The regulator had previously blocked the deal but has since given provisional approval to a revised agreement. Under this modified deal, Microsoft has agreed to sell the streaming rights for Activision Blizzard's titles to Ubisoft, addressing concerns about Xbox's potential dominance in the cloud gaming market. The regulator is currently addressing some remaining concerns, with a final decision expected soon. Microsoft anticipates completing the deal by October 13, and if the October 18 deadline is missed, the company will be required to pay $4.5 billion to Activision Blizzard and renegotiate the deal's terms. Meanwhile, the US Federal Trade Commission is attempting to block the merger through an internal administrative hearing, although this is unlikely to occur before the deal's completion.
