Krafton Introduces India Gaming Incubator Initiative
Krafton India has introduced a novel initiative aimed at nurturing local gaming talent. According to a report by Tech Crunch, the Krafton India Gaming Incubator is designed to provide support to six to ten domestic game development teams each year, with the program duration spanning between six months to a year. Participating developers will receive guidance and financial backing, with funding ranging from $50,000 to $150,000, tailored to the specific needs of each studio. One key condition for selection is that the games must not feature gambling content. The announcement also revealed that Anuj Sahani, a veteran of the gaming industry with a background at Gameloft and EA, will be at the helm of the incubator program. "The Indian gaming market is experiencing tremendous demand, but the supply side still requires development. While there are numerous promising startups and game developers of all sizes, the ecosystem lacks diversity," stated Sean Hyunil Sohn, CEO of Krafton India. Furthermore, Krafton has pledged to invest $150 million in the Indian gaming market and may also provide funding to game studios that have completed the incubator program.
