Game Development Studio Dang Closes Its Doors

Dang, a New York-based game development studio, has announced its closure. The team of five, known for their 2021 first-person shooter Boomerang X, made the announcement on social media, stating that they were unable to secure funding for their next game and have depleted their resources. Although the team is disbanding, they have not ruled out the possibility of collaborating on smaller projects in the future. The studio expressed gratitude to their fans for the support they received over the years. Dang was also working on a game called IO Interloper, which was first announced six years ago but did not have a release date. The gaming industry has experienced a wave of layoffs and closures recently, with several major studios, including Epic, Activision Blizzard, and Team17, cutting staff. Dang's closure is not an isolated incident, as another indie studio, Puny Human, has also announced its demise due to financial difficulties caused by a client's refusal to make previously agreed-upon payments.
