Fortnite Creative Mode Introduces IARC Age Ratings
Epic Games has collaborated with the International Age Rating Coalition to introduce age ratings for all Fortnite Creative Mode content. The IARC will assign ratings ranging from E for everyone to Teen, which will be clearly displayed to help parents understand the content their children can access. Parents can use the game's Parental Controls to restrict access to islands with higher age ratings and set limits on game design capabilities. The new age ratings will take effect on November 14, and unrated content will be removed on this date. To facilitate the rating process, creators can use an IARC questionnaire available through the Creator Portal, which will also provide region-specific ratings from partner agencies such as the ESRB, PEGI, and USK. According to Patricia Vance, IARC chairperson and ESRB president, 'The implementation of the IARC rating system in Fortnite demonstrates Epic's commitment to providing families with the tools they need to make informed decisions about their children's gaming experiences.' As Fortnite expands its content offerings, the introduction of age ratings will help parents better understand the types of experiences their children can access.
