Team17 Undergoes Restructuring as CEO Michael Pattison Departs
UK-based independent games publisher Team17 is experiencing a round of layoffs amidst a company-wide restructure. The departure of Michael Pattison, CEO of Team17 Digital, has been confirmed. A company spokesperson stated, “We have amicably parted ways with Michael Pattison, and we are currently in a consultation period within Team17 Digital, with Astragon and Storytoys remaining unaffected.” Initially, sources indicated that the company would be undergoing a restructure, potentially resulting in around 50 job losses, primarily within the QA department, which is being outsourced. Junior QA roles are expected to be significantly impacted. The news follows the announcement that group CEO Debbie Bestwick will be leaving at the end of the year, to be succeeded by Steve Bell. A consultation process is underway, expected to conclude in November, marking another wave of redundancies in the industry, with companies like Creative Assembly and Epic Games also being affected.
