Meta Quest 3 Release Scheduled for October 10
The launch of Meta Quest 3 is slated for October 10, as announced by Meta during its Meta Connect event. The starting price for the base model of Meta's latest standalone VR headset is $499, or $650 in Canada. Powered by a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip, the headset boasts twice the graphics performance of its predecessors, according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Additionally, Zuckerberg revealed that Xbox cloud gaming will be available on Meta Quest 3 starting December, and a VR-optimized version of Roblox is now available for Quest headsets. The Quest 3 also features optional colored head straps and visor parts, productivity apps such as Microsoft Office 365, and augmented reality capabilities, including virtual display placement and object anchoring. Furthermore, Meta showcased its AI-powered image generation tools for use in chats and Instagram, as well as new Rayban glasses equipped with cameras and integrated AI assistant functionality, enabling users to record and share their surroundings through Meta's social networks.
