Announcing the Winners of the 2023 UK Best Places to Work Awards

The results of the 2023 GamesIndustry.biz Best Places to Work Awards for the UK have been announced, with the awards ceremony taking place at BAFTA in London. Now in its seventh year, the awards aim to foster a better work environment in the video games industry by recognizing companies that excel in supporting their staff and addressing key issues raised by games professionals worldwide. The winners are determined primarily through an employee survey, as well as information provided by the companies themselves. Over 100 UK games companies participated in this year's awards, with winners selected across three categories based on company size: small (10-50 employees), medium (50-200 employees), and large (over 200 employees). Special awards were also presented to companies that demonstrate excellence in areas such as diversity, environmental sustainability, nurturing talent, charity work, and staff well-being. The G Into Gaming Award, which recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to supporting women in the video games industry, was awarded to Gina Jackson. The winners of the 2023 UK Best Places to Work Awards are as follows: Large Companies (presented by Lighthouse Games) include NaturalMotion Games, Playground Games, Rare, and Sports Interactive. Mid-Sized Companies (presented by Playground Games) include Atomhawk, Bulkhead, D3T + Coconut Lizard, Electric Square/Lively, Expression Games, Hutch, PlayStation London Studio, Playtonic Games, Roll7, Space Ape Games, Trailmix Games, and Wushu Studios. Small Companies (presented by Hutch Games) include Fuse Games Limited, ICO Partners, Indigo Pearl, Lighthouse Games, Maverick Games, Mojiworks, Ripstone, Snap Finger Click, and ustwo games. The G into Gaming Award (presented by Amiqus) went to Gina Jackson, OBE. The Corporate Social Responsibility Award (presented by SpecialEffect) was awarded to Rocksteady, with finalists including Playground Games, PlayStation London Studio, Playtonic, and ustwo games. The Health and Wellbeing Award (presented by nDreams) was awarded to Rare, with finalists including D3T/Coconut Lizard, Electric Square/Lively, Ripstone, and ustwo games. The Environmental Award (presented by Games London) was awarded to ustwo games, with finalists including Rocksteady, Space Ape Games, Sports Interactive, and Sumo Group. The Education Award (presented by Double Eleven) was awarded to nDreams, with finalists including 10:10 Games, D3T/Coconut Lizard, Huey Games, Rocksteady, and Sumo Group. The Diversity Award (presented by Ico Partners) was awarded to PlayStation London Studio, with finalists including Failbetter Games, Netspeak Games, Sumo Group/Atomhawk, and ustwo games. Finally, the UK Best Boss 2023 award (presented by Rocksteady) was awarded to Simon Iwaniszak from Red Kite Games, with finalists including Chris Mehers from Futurlab, Errol Ismail from Expression Games, John Tearle from Flix Interactive, Louise Andrew from D3T, Maria Sayans from ustwo, and Simon Iwaniszak from Red Kite Games.
