Supercell Expands Its Reach with Majority Stake in Ultimate Studio

In a bid to transcend its mobile roots, Supercell has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Melbourne-based Ultimate Studio, driven by its ambition to venture into new territories. Ultimate Studio is renowned for its arcade-style racing game, Hot Lap League, available on Steam, Google Play, and the App Store. Having backed Ultimate since its inception in 2018 by former Firemonkeys executives, Supercell is now poised to deepen its partnership. According to Ultimate CEO Tony Lay, Supercell's values align with those of Ultimate, fostering an environment where the studio can maintain its autonomy. Supercell's Timur Haussila expressed excitement about elevating the partnership, highlighting Ultimate's extensive experience across mobile, PC, and console titles. This strategic move marks one of Supercell's initial steps into the realm beyond mobile, aiming to cater to a broader audience and craft memorable titles in collaboration with Ultimate.
