Tokyo Game Show 2023 Welcomes Over 243,000 Visitors

The Tokyo Game Show 2023 has officially drawn to a close, with a total of 243,238 attendees, as confirmed by the event organiser, CESA. This marks a significant increase from the previous year, with numbers more than doubling. In 2022, the event saw 138,192 participants, a figure that was impacted by COVID-19 restrictions, which limited the use of the Makuhari Messe venue. For comparison, the 2019 event attracted 262,076 visitors. With all restrictions lifted this year, the entire venue was utilised, resulting in substantially higher visitor numbers. The first public day of the event saw 96,033 attendees, up from 47,236 in 2022. The second public day drew 77,390 people, compared to 40,291 the previous year. Although the numbers represent a significant increase from 2022, they fell short of the 102,333 attendees recorded in 2019. The business days also saw an uptick in attendance, with 33,706 and 36,109 people, surpassing the 2019 figures of 33,465 and 34,977. Furthermore, the TGS Business Matching System facilitated a record 2,355 business negotiations. This year's event featured over 780 companies and organisations from 44 countries and regions, spread across four days. Looking ahead, the dates for TGS 2024 have been announced, scheduled to take place from September 26 to 29 at Makuhari Messe.
