Roblox Reduces Workforce by 30 Employees
Roblox has implemented a series of layoffs within its recruitment division. According to a report by TechCrunch, approximately 30 staff members were released from their positions last week, as the company prioritizes consolidating its financial foundation over expansion. A spokesperson for Roblox explained to the site that the company's previous rapid growth objectives necessitated significant investment in its recruitment organization, but no other departments were impacted. The spokesperson stated, "To align our cash compensation growth with our bookings growth by the end of Q1 2024, we must now operate with a smaller talent acquisition team that meets our revised hiring needs, which have been adjusted to better align with our growth objectives." Despite experiencing substantial growth in user numbers and revenue over the past few years, Roblox's operations remain unprofitable. In its Q1 earnings report earlier this year, the company posted record revenues but incurred a loss of $268 million, compared to a loss of $160 million during the same period in the previous year.
