European Game Industry Salaries Vary by Location

According to a recent report by recruitment agency Values Value and career platform InGame Job, the salaries of European gaming professionals are heavily influenced by their geographical location. The Big Games Industry Employment Survey 2023, which gathered data from 1,184 respondents, reveals significant variations in pay across different regions and job levels. The survey categorized respondents into two groups: the EU region, comprising 27 countries, and the non-EU region, which includes countries such as Armenia, Belarus, and Ukraine. The report highlights the highest and lowest average salaries for various professions, including game design, art and design, analytics, QA, and executive roles, across junior, middle, and senior levels. Notably, the survey also observed a persistent gender pay gap, with female respondents tend to have lower expected salary levels compared to their male counterparts, and this disparity widens as professionals progress in their careers.
