Evil Dead: The Game's Switch Release Cancelled, Content Development Concludes
The Nintendo Switch version of Evil Dead: The Game has been cancelled, and development of new content for the game on other platforms has come to an end, according to an announcement by Saber Interactive. The game, which launched as an Epic Games exclusive on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC in May of last year, debuted at number four on the US monthly charts. It later became available on Steam, followed by a Game of the Year edition that included all post-launch DLC. In a statement, the Florida-based developer confirmed that servers will remain active for the foreseeable future and any significant issues will be addressed. The company expressed gratitude to fans for their support, saying "thank you for all the groovy times and your continued support." Although no reason was given for the end of development, Saber Interactive's parent company Embracer has been undergoing a restructuring program, which has involved studio closures and layoffs, including the recent closure of Canadian-based developer Beamdog, resulting in the loss of 26 jobs.
