Microsoft Plans Mid-Generation Updates for Xbox Series X and S, Codenamed Brooklin and Ellewood, for Release Next Year

Reports suggest that Microsoft is preparing to launch refreshed versions of its Xbox Series consoles, the Series X and Series S, in 2024, as indicated by court documents from a recent legal battle. The upgraded Xbox Series X, codenamed 'Brooklin', will feature a cylindrical design without a disc drive, 2TB of internal storage, enhanced Wi-Fi, and reduced power consumption, with a projected launch in October 2024 at $499. In contrast, the Xbox Series S refresh, codenamed 'Ellewood', will retain its original form factor, with improvements including faster Wi-Fi, reduced power, and 1TB of internal storage, slated for release in August 2024 at $299. Both consoles will come with a new, more immersive controller, featuring a swappable battery, recycled materials, haptic feedback, and modular thumbsticks, expected to debut in May 2024. Additionally, internal documents have revealed Bethesda's upcoming lineup, including Dishonored 3, remasters of Oblivion and Fallout 3, and other unannounced titles, although the release dates listed may not be accurate due to the documents being from July 2020.
