Playtika Expands Portfolio with Acquisition of Innplay Labs
Playtika has finalized the acquisition of Innplay Labs, a prominent mobile gaming studio responsible for titles such as Tiles of Fortune and Animals & Coins. According to reports from GamesBeat, the acquisition involves an initial payment of $80 million, with the potential to reach $300 million. This strategic move aims to strengthen Playtika's position in the luck battle genre and pave the way for long-term growth, including the rebranding of Animals & Coins. Robert Antokol, CEO and co-founder of Playtika, expressed enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating, "The addition of Innplay Labs to our portfolio represents a significant expansion of our offerings with a promising and innovative growth franchise. We are confident that by combining our expertise with Innplay's talented team, we will create exceptional gaming experiences for our players." Ore Gilron, CEO of Innplay Labs, welcomed the opportunity to join Playtika's portfolio, anticipating that it will propel the studio to new heights. This development comes on the heels of Playtika's announcement in March to temporarily halt the development of new games due to challenges in the mobile market, followed by an attempted acquisition of Rovio, the maker of Angry Birds, which was later acquired by Sega in August.
