Ubisoft's XDefiant Release Pushed Back Due to Console Certification Issues

Ubisoft's upcoming game XDefiant has hit a roadblock after failing to obtain certification from PlayStation and Xbox. According to executive producer Mark Rubin, the game was submitted for certification in July but received a 'Not Pass' by mid-August. This setback has resulted in a significant amount of additional work to ensure compliance, which was not initially anticipated. If the game had passed certification, it would have been released by the end of August. However, with the necessary fixes now being implemented, the game is expected to be resubmitted to first parties within two weeks. While there is a possibility of a September release, the more likely scenario is that XDefiant will receive a conditional pass, requiring a Day One patch to address final fixes and pushing the release date to early or mid-October. Originally announced in 2021 as a Tom Clancy title, XDefiant has undergone several beta tests, which is why a firm release date has not been announced. As Rubin explained, the focus is on releasing the game as soon as possible, once all necessary requirements are met.
