GSC Game World, Developer of Stalker 2, Experiences Office Blaze

A fire has partially damaged the Prague offices of Stalker 2 developer GSC Game World. According to a report from Czech outlet Vortex, translated by HazzadorGamin on X, the fire was caused by an electrical issue and destroyed one floor. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The estimated damage is around 1.5 million CZK, equivalent to $65,866. The fire reportedly affected a floor that contained the studio's backup servers. A developer from GSC Game World provided an update on Discord, stating that the damaged floor needs to be completely restored and that the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The developer also reassured that the incident will not hinder the development of Stalker 2, saying the team has overcome greater challenges before. GSC Game World has faced significant challenges, including constant cyberattacks over the past year. Due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the studio relocated part of its operations from Kyiv to Prague in 2022 to ensure continued development. Initially scheduled for release in April 2022, Stalker 2 has experienced multiple delays and is now expected to launch in the first quarter of 2024.
