Starfield Takes the Top Spot in UK Boxed Charts

Starfield has secured the top spot in the UK physical charts for the week. According to GfK's report, the space-action RPG generated more physical sales on Xbox than on PC. The premium edition of Starfield, which includes early access to the digital version, dropped to number 34 after debuting at number 7 the previous week, experiencing a 71% decline in sales following the game's wider release on September 6. The Xbox exclusive attracted over six million players within two days, making it Bethesda's most successful launch to date. In addition to Starfield, three other new titles have entered the charts: NBA 2K24 and Fae Farm debuted at numbers 7 and 9, respectively, while Crime Boss: Rockay City entered at number 22. Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon fell from number 5 to number 20, with a 63% decrease in sales, after debuting at number 1 for the week ending August 26, 2023. Meanwhile, Hogwarts Legacy rose to number 2, driven by a 228% increase in sales the previous week, and is still benefiting from a price promotion, with sales rising by 4% week-on-week. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is at number 3, despite a 24% decline in sales, while Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate moved up one spot to number 5 after an 8% increase in sales due to a price reduction on PS5. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom dropped out of the top five for the first time and is now at number 6, following a 23% decline in sales. FIFA 23 fell out of the top ten and is now at number 11, with a 12% decrease in sales, although it saw an increase on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S due to retailer discounts. This year's EA Sports FC 24, the first in the series to drop the FIFA brand, is set to debut on September 29. Pikmin 4 fell from number 16 to number 18, with a 27% decrease in sales, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year edition rose to number 15 after being at number 37 the previous week, with a 38% increase in sales due to a deal on PS4. Two titles also re-entered the charts this week: The Dark Souls Trilogy returned at number 31, with a 19% increase in sales due to discounts on PS4, and Cyberpunk 2077 is at number 32, with a 41% increase in sales week-on-week, thanks to another PC price promotion.
