Bethesda's Starfield Achieves Record-Breaking Launch
Starfield has cemented its position as Bethesda's most successful launch to date, outperforming previous blockbusters like Skyrim and Fallout 4. Following its early access debut on September 1 and subsequent wider release on September 6, the publisher announced that the game had attracted over six million players across Xbox and PC platforms. Notably, Starfield was also made available on Xbox Game Pass from day one as a first-party title. The game achieved a significant milestone earlier this week, reaching over one million concurrent players. According to Eurogamer, Starfield has seen a daily peak of 250,000 concurrent users on Steam. Xbox's chief marketing officer, Jerret West, referred to Starfield's launch as a "comet game launch" in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz at Gamescom last month. West emphasized that games like Starfield are rare, garnering attention from both the gaming industry and broader consumer audiences. He also viewed Starfield as a "starting gun" for a series of first-party titles on Xbox, marking the beginning of something special that will unfold over the coming years.
