ReedPop and ESA End Partnership on E3

In a joint announcement, ReedPop, the organiser of PAX, and the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) have revealed that they will no longer be collaborating on future E3 events. As a result, the ESA has notified the Los Angeles Convention Center, the traditional venue for E3, that it does not intend to host the event there in 2024. Although the ESA has not officially cancelled E3 2024, any potential event would need to find an alternative location. The trade body is reportedly working on a significant overhaul of the E3 format, with plans to unveil a revamped show in 2025. ReedPop, the parent company of GamesIndustry.biz, had initially signed a multi-year agreement to manage E3 in 2023. However, the attempted relaunch of the event was unsuccessful, and the planned 2023 show was ultimately cancelled. The decision to terminate the partnership was reportedly mutual. In a statement, ESA president and CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis expressed appreciation for ReedPop's collaboration and emphasized the organization's commitment to evolving E3 to better serve the video game industry. Kyle Marsden-Kish, ReedPop's games events boss, also acknowledged the partnership and expressed enthusiasm for seeing the future direction of E3 under the ESA's guidance. This development follows the recent PAX West event in Seattle, which coincided with the Nintendo Live show.
