Bandai Namco: Elden Ring's Success to Significantly Expand Armored Core 6's Reach

The phenomenal success of Elden Ring has created a favorable landscape for the launch of Armored Core 6, allowing it to debut on a much larger scale, according to Bandai Namco. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz at Gamescom, Bandai Namco Europe CEO Arnaud Muller expressed the publisher's heightened expectations for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, slated for release. He attributed this increased ambition to FromSoftware's enhanced popularity following Elden Ring's remarkable success, as well as the developer's accumulated experience, which is expected to bring Armored Core to new heights, a decade after the series' last installment. Muller stated, 'This presents an opportunity for us to substantially broaden the audience for Armored Core games.' While his aspirations are not comparable to those for Elden Ring, they far exceed those for previous Armored Core titles. He continued, 'FromSoftware's reputation, bolstered by Elden Ring, serves as a guarantee of quality. As a result, people will be drawn to Armored Core 6 due to its high Metacritic score, challenging yet rewarding gameplay, and the seal of quality associated with FromSoftware.' During the conversation, reviews for Armored Core 6 began to emerge, with the game currently holding a very positive metascore of 87. Muller noted, 'This marks a significant step forward for the franchise. Although we won't match Elden Ring's numbers, we will substantially surpass the performance of previous Armored Core games.' He added, 'We have a great game, with a battle system that remains loyal to what FromSoftware fans have come to expect. Our goal is to further develop this IP in collaboration with FromSoftware, and we anticipate that fans who discovered FromSoftware through Elden Ring will enjoy Armored Core.'
