BioWare Announces Staff Reduction of 50 Employees

BioWare has confirmed plans to downsize its workforce by approximately 50 employees. The decision to reduce staff is reportedly driven by the need to adapt to the studio's evolving requirements. According to BioWare general manager Gary McKay, "To meet the demands of our upcoming projects, maintain our high standards of quality, and ensure the long-term success of BioWare in a rapidly changing industry, we must transition into a more agile and focused studio." Despite the layoffs, the studio reaffirms its commitment to developing Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. Additionally, BioWare is ending its partnership with outsourcing firm Keywords, whose contract for playtesting services is set to expire next month, after the two parties failed to reach a renewal agreement. This development follows EA's announcement in March to lay off approximately 6% of its workforce as part of a broader restructuring effort. Efforts to obtain a statement from Keywords are currently underway.
