Xbox's First-Party Game Lineup Gets a Boost with Starfield

The release of Starfield signifies the commencement of an extended period of frequent new Xbox exclusives, according to Xbox. Speaking at Gamescom, where the company showcased the sci-fi RPG, Xbox chief marketing officer Jerret West stated that the Bethesda game initiates a multi-year sequence of first-party titles. West described Starfield as a "doorway" to a series of upcoming games, including Forza, Hellblade, Towerborne, and Avowed, with more unannounced titles to follow in 2024 and 2025. Xbox has faced challenges in maintaining consistency with its first-party titles over the past 18 months, with few exclusive releases in 2022 and a poorly received Redfall in 2023. However, the company's summer showcase in June received a positive response from the media. West expressed his excitement about the upcoming lineup, citing the importance of Game Pass and third-party relationships. He believes that Xbox is entering a period that will be truly special over the next several years.
