Atari Unveils the Revamped Atari 2600+ Console

Atari has officially announced the Atari 2600+, a modern reinterpretation of its iconic home console. Scheduled for release in November, the Atari 2600+ is designed to play original cartridges from both the Atari 2600 and 7800 systems. Additionally, it comes bundled with a 10-in-1 cartridge featuring an array of classic games, including Combat, Adventure, Missile Command, and Yar's Revenge. The console's video output has been enhanced with widescreen support and includes an HDMI cable for improved connectivity. With a price tag of $130, the Atari 2600+ includes one joystick, while extra joysticks are available for $25. Atari is also offering paddle controllers with a four-game bundle for $40 and two standalone games, Berzerk Enhanced Edition and Mr. Run and Jump, each priced at $30. Currently, these products are only available for shipping within the United States, although an international retailer list is expected to be released soon. Furthermore, Atari has published a game compatibility list, outlining which titles are supported by the Atari 2600+. Although the console supports a wide range of games, some titles remain untested, and certain games, including the 2600 versions of RealSports Boxing, Super Cobra, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, are incompatible with the system.
