Remnant 2 Tops July Sales Charts in the US

Gunfire Games' Remnant 2 quickly rose to the top of the charts, securing the number one spot in Circana's July Top 20 list despite its late release in the reporting period. Circana's monthly US sales report reveals that consumer spending on games increased by 1% year-over-year, reaching $4.19 billion, driven by a 2% rise in content spending and an 8% surge in accessory sales. However, this growth was partially offset by a 19% year-over-year decline in hardware sales. In contrast to the year-to-date figures, where hardware sales have been a strong point with a 17% increase, content spending has remained flat, and accessory sales have decreased by 1%. All major console systems experienced year-over-year declines, but the PS5 led in both unit and dollar sales, followed by the Switch. On the console and PC software front, Remnant 2 was joined in the Top 20 by new releases Pikmin 4 and Exoprimal. Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3 also re-entered the top 20 due to renewed interest in older Call of Duty games following the restoration of multiplayer functionality for some legacy versions on Xbox platforms. In the mobile sector, overall spending remained relatively stable, but there were significant changes among the top contributors. According to Sensor Tower's Samuel Aune, 'Royal Match took the top spot, surpassing Candy Crush Saga as the number one game by spending, with a 21% month-over-month increase in US consumer spending.' Additionally, 'Monopoly Go rose to number two, overtaking Roblox and Coin Master, with an 83% month-over-month increase in consumer spending.' The top 20 selling games for the period of July 2 to July 29, based on data from Circana, are listed below, excluding digital sales.
